For the people behind the Summerbreeze Festival in Kristiansand and all the visitors, the summer in southern Norway is not complete until the first artist is on the stage. This year – as last year – Pon Energy Rental was part of the team and ensured a great success!
Summerbreeze is a festival held in mid-June every year. The artists vary from year to year, but what is certain is that the experience is just as unforgettable every single year. This experience is ensured through safe and sound stage operation, with good help from Pon Energy Rental.
The management of the Summerbreeze Festival, represented by festival manager Heine Strømme, was delighted to be able to use an environmentally friendly and efficient solution throughout the weekend.
The Summerbreeze Festival – the start of summer
The Summerbreeze Festival is held every year in mid-June. This weekend, people from all over the country head down to southern Norway to be part of the festival in Kristiansand. Festival manager Heine Strømme says that they are not a festival like any other.
– “We simply don’t try to be that cool. We primarily organize a festival tthat suits most people, and try to book Norwegian and recognizable artists that are recognized from the radio. We have a 20-year age limit and you come here to listen to what you like and already know,” says Strømme.
Summerbreeze is a social festival. You can come here to meet both old and new friends, or just to enjoy one of your favorite artists. This year – as last year – Pon Energy Rental was on board to ensure that all festival attendees had an unforgettable experience.
The assignment was simply to supply power to run the stage throughout the weekend. Strømme explains that they simply did not have enough access to electricity at the festival site, and therefore needed some extra help with this.
Pon Energy Rental delivered a battery solution with a generator package as a back-up, which could easily help keep the festival going in an environmentally friendly way.
– “It was a very simple and very good solution for us. By delivering an electrical solution, where the generators were in back-up.
The Summerbreeze Festival also received a good solution from Pon Energy Rental last year, which was an added bonus for this year’s festival.
– “We used Pon Energy Rental precisely because this is what they do, and they’re damn good at it. Why choose someone new when we can choose a supplier that we know works and delivers good solutions every time,” asks Strømme.
A battery solution for anything from festivals to offshore
Olav Austad currently works as a sales engineer at Pon Energy Rental, and was involved in the delivery to the Summerbreeze Festival. He can tell us more about the efficient and user-friendly solution for large energy deliveries. “These battery packs can be used for both festivals and other large events.
– “What is unique about our batteries is that they are not made exclusively for the construction industry,” Olav explains.
He goes on to say that the battery packs for the construction industry are often quite simple and inexpensive, and are mainly designed to charge machinery. The battery packs from Pon Energy Rental have a built-in transformer. This means that you can go from 200-690 volts in just a second, using a button.
– In our battery packs, you also have the option of choosing between 50 and 60 hertz. 50 hertz is the frequency that is in ordinary lightfixtures on land, while all ships and offshore platforms need 60 hertz. No one else can supply that today,” says Olav.
“When one push of a button is all it takes to offer an energy solution for ships docking in port, it’s clear that this is a battery solution that can meet the vast majority of needs, regardless of industry.
A safe and effective solution
Safety is a top priority for the entire team at Pon Energy Rental. That’s why safety is also important in our battery solutions. One of the most common challenges with batteries is overheating. Where other batteries have large fans that transport the heat away, the battery packs from Pon Energy Rental have their own eco-environment with a cooling unit on the outside. This regulates the heat in the same way as your refrigerator at home.
It is a closed unit, which means that the battery can be located at the North Pole or in the middle of the desert, without this having any effect on the temperature of the battery. Nothing gets into the unit, which ensures safe temperature regulation.
– This battery pack is a product we have developed within the Pon Energy Rental team. It is very popular with festivals and other events that use a stage. We use quick connectors both in and out of the battery pack. This fits very well with most stage setups, so we can always deliver the right connection from the battery,” says Olav.
He goes on to say that there are smart quick chargers for the battery pack, which makes it possible to charge other types of machines.
– “We have developed fast chargers for our batteries, which also have the same connections. You can use our fast chargers for charging machines or cars, or larger battery-powered vehicles. These can deliver a continuous power of 350 kW due to the efficient water cooler,” Olav explains enthusiastically.
A complete system
At Pon Energy Rental, we want all the equipment and solutions we supply to be both simple and efficient to use. That’s why we’ve made sure that all the systems we supply can communicate with each other and thus have the same control system.
– You can connect as many generators and/or batteries as you need, and the battery can send a command to all the generators. If you need more power than you can supply by using one generator, it will activate the next one in line. This series can be as long as you want, and you can link several solutions together,” Olav explains.
Finally, he adds that they have now invested in 150 new Stage 5 generators, which means they meet the strictest and latest emissions and environmental requirements. They use AdBlue, and you get the most environmentally friendly solution on the market today.
The Summerbreeze Festival was delighted with this delivery, and the festival was a success this year as it was last year. Pon Energy Rental is more than ready to deliver again for next year’s festival.
