Final inspection – Why is it so important?

Horten Elektro Service AS has been an important partner for us at Pon Energy Rental since 2016. By focusing on final inspection after the installation has been completed, we ensure safe installation for our customers.

Despite its young age, Horten Elektro has been a vital partner for us at Pon Energy Rental for several years. All final inspections are approved by this competent team from Horten, which means we can sleep well at night.

We had a chat with Patrick Loe, who today helps to run Horten Elektro as a technical manager, together with his partners and colleagues. He can tell us more about why final inspections are so important to carry out.

Safe electrical systems

Patrick co-founded the company Horten Elektro after having spent many years running training and education courses for new electricians. Starting his own company was very exciting for him, and today they have 15 employees in total.

 “The collaboration with us at Pon Energy Rental was developed right from the start, and today we have developed a relationship based on trust, exciting assignments and expertise. Safety is important to us, and we always ensure that our installations are correct and safe when Horten Elektro approves the final inspection performed by us.

 We asked Patrick why he chose to partner with us at Pon Energy Rental, and Patrick explains the following;

 – “If you’re going to build electrical installations in Norway, you need someone with the certifications that I have, plain and simple. Pon Energy Rental is a rental company, where they usually deliver equipment connected up to the customer’s plant.

 – “In cases where customers want a complete installation, we carry this out as a collaborative project, and in that sense, we are a good match,” Patrick continues.

He points out that many people take temporary installations too lightly, but these are facilities that are exposed to tough conditions. This places strict demands on both equipment and design to ensure safety.

He also adds that it is exciting for Horten Elektro to work with Pon Energy Rental. “It often involves large and expensive equipment that they don’t normally come into contact with very often.

Documentation provides security

All facilities undergo a final inspection before they are finally handed over to our customers. This ensures that we deliver top quality and safety to our customers, and that we operate in accordance with laws and regulations.

The regulation on low-voltage electrical installations $12 states that you must document that the installation is safe and secure through an inspection of the installation. A declaration and complete documentation of the system’s function must always be issued after the system has been installed.

What is included in a final inspection today?

 To get an even better picture of why final inspections are so important, we asked Patrick if he could explain more about what is included in a final inspection.

 – A final inspection is carried out by going through a checklist step by step. We confirm that all covers are attached, that it is not possible to touch anything that is electrified, that the entire installation is finished and complete, that equipment is placed where it is least likely to be damaged, that it is the right equipment based on the surroundings, and then we carry out a number of electrotechnical measurements,” Patrick explains and continues.

 – “We also double-check that all fuses are tripped in the event of a fault in the system. This is absolutely crucial if something should happen, in order to minimize the damage,” says Patrick.

Patrick is clearly very concerned about proper electrical safety and preventing damage to both materials and people. It gives us great peace of mind to work with professionals who are passionate about their profession.
