For us at Pon Energy Rental, it is important that our employees enjoy their work and have the important combination of skills, experience and development. For senior technician Christer Glerud, everyday life became even better after Energyst became Pon Energy Rental.
Christer Glerud has worked with us for many years as a senior technician. Over these years, he has been out on countless projects and service assignments and has been in close contact with customers. In addition to this, he has an important role in the development of new talents.
We sat down and had a chat with Christer in connection with the change from Energyst to Pon Energy Rental. Here you can get to know a part of the core of our workforce even better, and the everyday life of one of our top employees.
A grateful everyday life
As a senior technician, Christer has many varied tasks. He performs several different service assignments, and also acts as a mentor for new and exciting talents in the company. This is one of his favorite tasks.
– “I have a mentoring role towards employees who do not have the same experience as I do. We are often out on service assignments and projects together, and there I have a certain responsibility for them, and try to share both my experience and expertise, says Christer.
– “It’s a very rewarding task to have, and I see the improvements with every single assignment. It’s exciting to teach things you might take for granted, he continues.
Furthermore, Christer says that he had many apprentices before, so it is a responsibility he is well used to having. By using practical learning, we can offer our employees an exciting everyday life, which is characterized by the work they will actually perform for many years to come.
The working day is exciting and varied. In addition to good service arrangements, we at Pon Energy Rental can also contribute with rental of quality equipment and machinery. Since the transition from Energyst to Pon, our machine park has been further developed, which has benefited both engineers and customers.
New forces added to an already great team
For Christer, who works a lot out in the field, the transition from Energyst to Pon Energy Rental has provided new opportunities to solve situations at customer sites.
– “The workday is pretty much the same as before, with the difference that we now have new and better equipment than we had before. Our need for new equipment is heard and there has been a good willingness to invest, says Christer.
Of the new equipment Christer mentions, he particularly highlights battery packs and stage 5 generators. The battery packs help us, among other things, to deliver greener solutions without compromising on quality and ease of use for the customer.
Investing in high-quality equipment is crucial for our team of engineers when they visit customers to deliver good and safe solutions. As a senior engineer, he is committed to working with safety at all levels and for all parties, every time he visits customers.
– “We always perform our work in a safe way, and we make sure that all solutions are safe when we leave. We have experience with our equipment and know that we should not place equipment in areas where it can be exposed to extreme external stress.
He goes on to explain a little more about the risks that working with electricity can actually bring.
– “Electricity has the potential to kill either you or someone else in the workplace if you do something the wrong way. That’s why it’s absolutely crucial for us to have a continuous focus on safety when we’re out working. We must know the equipment, have good routines and have our heads in the right place every time we handle the equipment,” Christer continues.
This knowledge of risk, safety procedures and handling of equipment is something that is common to all our employees, no matter where they are. The transition to Pon has also given us the opportunity to expand geographically, and we are now also in place with a new department in Trondheim.
Security in knowledge
Christer welcomes the new department in Trondheim. Here the department is being built from scratch, with new people and new equipment. For Christer, this can open up for collaboration across Norway, and new and exciting challenges.
– “Together we are a team. We share expertise, knowledge and build each other up. With the department in Trondheim, we now have a local presence in a market where we are already active, and we can now assist customers faster than before.
– At Pon Energy Rental, everyone is included. Regardless of how long experience or how much knowledge they bring. If we include everyone, we will be able to develop together. Everyone has expertise in different areas, which together creates a comprehensive package, and it is therefore important that we work together to get into place – also in Trondheim,” Christer continues.
The new depot in Trøndelag represents a new chapter for Pon Energy Rental, in an exciting time with many new challenges. Some markets are running as normal, while others are facing a different summer this year than they have had in the past. This may present a need for new solutions, and thus new, exciting opportunities for us at Pon Energy Rental.
– Our industrial customers represent solid growth, and we have increased our presence in this segment. Personally, I am more excited about the event market, where they both face financial challenges on the organizer’s side, and we as private individuals now also notice increasing interest rates and increased electricity costs on our wallets. This could mean that we need to think a little differently to make this work,” says Christer.
The experience needed to get the job done
The need for new solutions, exciting challenges and creative problem solving is already part of the everyday work of Christer and the rest of our engineers. There is not always a simple solution to our customers’ challenges, yet it is extremely rare that there is no good solution to the challenges.
– We have so much experience and equipment that we almost always succeed. In addition, our new products provide new opportunities and solutions,” says Christer.
– “I’ve been working here for almost 15 years, and there’s only one job we haven’t been able to solve. That’s a very solid statistic, and we have a good record of not completing a job. We have experienced and seen a lot, we have enough experience and knowledge to say that if you have a problem, we will find a solution, Christer concludes.
We are nothing without our engineers. Christer represents the practical expertise of our employees and the strengths we can offer our customers together. The machine park is developed to facilitate the challenges of our customers, and we will always represent quality and user-friendliness.
