Our customer Equinor requested us to execute a comprehensive load test before installing gas turbine generators on their offshore vessel. This is the largest load test we have delivered in Norway ever.

At Kværner Stord, two 11 kV / 40MVA gas turbine generators are under construction. They will supply power to Johan Castberg FPSO, located at the Johan Castberg oilfield which is situated 240 kilometers north of Hammerfest (Norway). We executed a load test to secure full operation of the gas turbines before installing them on the vessel.

The HV transformer and load bank package can generate up to 50MVA load. This equals the power consumption of a city with 65 000 residents. A 2500A HV switchgear with a high-level short circuit performance is custom-built in a 20ft container.

The delivered package includes all ancillaries that distribute supply from the high-voltage grid via 8x 11kV 400V transformers, HV and LV cables, cable ramps, cable ladders, LV switchgear and distribution boards, as well as UPS to ensure power supply of all critical systems.
