When ships are docked at quay and require electricity, diesel generators are commonly used to power essential onboard systems such as lighting, heating, ventilation, and technical equipment. However, this approach leads to emissions of greenhouse gases, particulate matter, and increased noise pollution, negatively affecting local air quality and contributing to climate change.

Shore Power is a sustainable and environmentally-friendly solution that enables docked vessels to connect directly to the electrical grid at the port. Instead of running their onboard engines or diesel generators, ships draw electricity from a shore-side power supply, eliminating the need for fossil fuels while docked.

Shore Power systems typically include specialized electrical infrastructure at the quay, compatible connections onboard the vessels, and often incorporate advanced features such as smart batteries for energy storage, integration with renewable energy sources like solar panels, and highly efficient, low-emission EU5 generators as a backup or supplementary energy source. This combination significantly reduces emissions, noise, and environmental impact, promoting cleaner and quieter port environments.
