Peak shaving with batteries refers to a smart energy management strategy that involves utilizing battery storage to reduce energy consumption during periods of high demand. This approach allows users to draw power from their battery systems instead of relying solely on the electric grid during times when the demand for electricity is at its peak. 

One of the main advantages of peak shaving with batteries is its ability to help mitigate strain on the grid during peak demand hours. These periods typically occur during hot summer afternoons or cold winter evenings when the majority of households and businesses simultaneously consume large amounts of electricity. By using batteries, users can shift their power consumption away from these high-demand hours, thereby reducing the overall pressure on the electrical grid. 

For our customer a battery peak shaving solution was the optimal solution since their challenge was an insufficient grid connection during daytime. By installing a peak shaving solution with our battery and a Stage V genset as a back-up, we ensured that the customer always had enough power to run their business. Our battery was charged by the grid during the night and during the day, in case the power grid supply wasn’t sufficient, it jumped in. 

This temporary peak shaving solution enabled the customer to get real time data insights on their power usage, resulting in a permanent power solution based on actual needs. This is a great example of an efficient solution we can deliver with our batteries.
