Since the site did not have a permanent grid connection with sufficient capacity, temporary energy was required.
All municipalities and critical facilities in Norway are obligated to have a contingency plan in place in case the power grid shuts down. For a major grid supplier, we have set up a plan to ensure power back-up in case of grid failure or other sudden events.
We sat down together with our customer to make sure the plan fully met their needs. While discussing their situation, we found that there was a need for three packages to cover multiple scenarios. The packages contain three different sizes of generators: 150, 250 and 500 kVA, including transformers of 400 to 230 V and a set of cables. The sets are on standby in our yard, to make sure they are available in case of a shutdown.
Next to a detailed list of equipment required, the contingency plan includes agreements on contact data, timings and responsibilities. The customer can reach us 24/7 and we make sure to arrange transport, the equipment, and resources for installation as soon as possible.
Did you cover the risk of power grid failure? We’re here to help!
